I Corinthians

I Corinthians

Paul composed his first letter to the Corinthians, presently lost, in the fall of 50 CE. The Corinthians pushed back very hard. They composed an answer to Paul with various inquiries. In the spring of 51 CE he composed a long letter back, our 1 Corinthians. This is the place where we begin to develop a more definite image of the local area, and it's anything but a lovely sight.

The congregation at Corinth was a wreck. I count 15 discernable issues that Paul addresses in 1 Corinthians: partisanship, with the Corinthians factionalizing behind rival pioneers inbreeding prostitution ; abstinence inside marriage Christians wedded to each other getting some information about separate from Christians wedded to agnostics asking about separate from inquiries encompassing marriage and remarriage claims excessive admiration worries about ladies supplicating and forecasting in improper ways mayhem in love, with talking in tongues and contending voices ; imbalance in the common dinner dissents of the real restoration of Jesus and of Christians the assortment of a huge amount of cash to be shipped off Jerusalem and an adjustment of Paul's itinerary items .

Basic this wreck, there were four primary troubles: an essential disappointment in connecting with each other in adoration; an emotional disappointment of the neighborhood church pioneers to act kindly despite their opposition for status and impact; haughty philosophical thinking that kept the significance from getting the body (which we could call "Christian intellectualism"); and strains emerging from the tensions that Paul's instructing about sex put on his proselytes. Every one of these issues would have been adequately awful, yet when they were all present together, the mix was poisonous.

Whenever we make a stride back from every one of the intricate details of the issues in the letter, we can see that Paul is asking something basic on the Corinthians. A lot of what he says can be summarized in the expression "fitting relating." One of the letter's high focuses is parts 12-13. Part 13 depicts finally the key Christian approach to relating, which is with adoration. Its significance is proven by the way that it is as yet perused at weddings all around this present reality.
