The Tower of David
The Tower of David, otherwise called the Citadel is an antiquated bastion situated close to the Jaffa Gate access to the Old City of Jerusalem.
The stronghold that stands today dates to the Mamluk and Ottoman periods. It was based on the site of a progression of prior old fortresses of the Hasmonean, Herodian, Byzantine and Early Muslim periods, subsequent to being obliterated more than once during the last many years of Crusader presence in the Holy Land by their Muslim enemies.[1] It contains significant archeological tracks down going back north of 2,500 years including a quarry dated to the First Temple period,[citation needed] and is a well known setting for benefit occasions, make shows, shows, and sound-and-light exhibitions.
