Galilee alludes to all of the area that is north of the Mount Carmel-Mount Gilboa edge and south of the east-west segment of the Litani River. It stretches out from the Israeli beach front plain and the shores of the Mediterranean Sea with Acre in the west, to the Jordan Rift Valley toward the east; and from the Litani in the north in addition to a piece verging on the Golan Heights the entire way to Dan at the foundation of Mount Hermon in the upper east, to Mount Carmel and Mount Gilboa in the south. This definition incorporates the fields of the Jezreel Valley north of Jenin and the Beth Shean Valley, the valley containing the Sea of Galilee, and the Hula Valley, in spite of the fact that it normally does exclude Haifa's quick northern rural areas. By this definition it covers with a significant part of the authoritative Northern District of Israel and with Southern Lebanon.
