Ezra, likewise called Ezra the Scribe and Ezra the Priest in the Book of Ezra (See-Video), was a Jewish copyist and cleric. In Greco-Latin Ezra is called Esdras. As per the Hebrew Bible he was a relative of Sraya the last High Priest to serve in the First Temple and a direct relation of Joshua, the primary High Priest of the Second Temple.He got back from Babylonian exile and once again introduced the Torah in Jerusalem. As per 1 Esdras, a Greek interpretation of the Book of Ezra still being used in Eastern Orthodoxy, he was additionally a High Priest. Rabbinic practice holds that he was a common individual from the organization.
